He is popularly known for his good looks and loverboy roles in hit Ghanaian and Nollywood movies such as Beyonce, American Boy and Joni Waka. He has also recently  featured in American Actress and film director Lisa Raye McCoy’s directorial debut, Skinned .




Personal Life

and wifeVan Vicker was born on August 1st 1977, to a Ghanaian/Liberian mother and a Dutch father and his early years were spent in Liberia in West Africa. Due to the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s, his family relocated to Ghana. He attended secondary school in Ghana, at the prestigious Mfantsipim School after which he took courses in Marketing.

Van Vicker is married to Adjoa van Vicker and they have three children; two daughters and a son. He has a close relationship with his mother and only sister.



Entertainment Career

He also worked as a radio presenter with Groove fm and Vibe fm and until recently Live fm. His acting career took off when he appeared in the popular Ghanaian television series, Suncity.
After this, Van Vicker was cast in his first film Divine Love as a supporting character and has not looked back since, appearing  in numerous Ghanaian and Nollywood films alongside prominent actors like Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Genevive Nnaji, Mercy Johnson, Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Tontoh Dikeh, Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke, Ini Edo, Chika Ike, Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Olu Jacobs, etc.

His Nollywood movies include My Soul Mate, Heart of Fire, Popular King, Gambling with Marriage, Harvest of Love, Stolen Will, The Joy of a Prince, Discovered, The Kingdom, Against the law amongst many others.
In 2008, Van Vicker started “Sky + Orange Productions”, a film production house. He has since produced and directed several films including the highly successful Joni Waka.






Van Vicker has a large fan base and is well recognized as an actor and Glo Ambassador all over the African continent and Worldwide.
He has been nominated for and won numerous awards from Africa to the Caribbean. Awards include Ghana Movie Awards, ACRAG awards and the Nollywood Academy Films Critics’ Awards. In 2009, he won the Best African Caribbean actor and Best Actor African American and in 2011 he won the Pan African creative actor.   In 2012, at Ghana Movie Awards, he won best actor and director for his hit comedy ‘Joni Waka. I n 2013, he won the Best International Actor award at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards (PAMSAA) 2013.


Humanitarian Efforts

Van Vicker has always been desirous of giving back to society; he has already established the VanVicker Foundation, a humanitarian foundation that supports, inspires and motivates the youth  .
He is also an Ambassador for the Federation of Liberian Youth where he serves as a patron and role model.
Van Vicker is also a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador, a role in which he uses his status as a celebrity to generate media coverage about the plight of refugees and draw attention to important issues.
